TWedge: Keyboard Wedge for Data Acquisition

You need to input data from external devices - like a bar-code reader, a gauge, an electronic scale… - into your existing application?

Changing or reprogramming of your application software is not possible (like in the case of SAP R/3) – or not desired?

Automated selection of input fields would be nice? You know – this is not a matter of minutes or even impossible with keyboard scanners.

Device input should be redirected to different applications e. g. depending on data received?

And at last (but not least) you are searching for a powerful data logging tool - e.g. you want to creates log files for later data processing and analyzing? With the built-in data logging feature of TWedge you can answer questions like “which data was received at a certain time” – without guessing.

After downloading and installing you have to configure the keyboard software wedge TWedge. Select the interface (RS232, TCP) and adjust the communication parameters (e.g. Baud rate, flow control…). Keystroke simulation is completely adjustable – you can define actions which are executed depending on input data.

If needed, you can adjust TWedge to run as “Mini Application” in the taskbar – like the system clock.

TWedge operates in the background and does not influence other applications – like a watchdog. Whenever TWedge receives data it forwards it as keystrokes to the destination window. Depending on your defined keystroke rules TWedge can bring a desired window to foreground, start applications automatically or simulate function keys (and special keys like Return, Ctrl, Alt…).

TWedge’s built-in data-logging is another useful feature – it can be activated on demand. Logfile-name, logfile-path and time-interval for saving the log file can be configured.
